2022, Brother typewriter, Raspberry Pi, Python, endless paper
The work "abba, cddc, effe" consists of a typewriter that prints different verses, phrases and words on an endless roll of paper. The space in which it is placed fills up with the endless text over time. Printing stops when the paper runs out.
The text that is printed is taken from a poem I wrote and was originally intended as a spoken word performance. Due to my own physical limitations, I repeatedly reached a time limit for the performance. Out of this individual, human exhaustion I wanted to continue the text and hand it over to the machine. Johannes Ratz (computer scientist) and I worked together on a program in Python to implement my idea. The resulting program allows enough variation, but still follows a pattern and is always reassembled.
